Flexibility for both Library Management and Archive Collections Cited

San Diego, CA

International library transformation company Soutron Global announces that The Egypt Exploration Society has selected Soutron as their long-term library management solution provider.

Founded in 1882 as The Egypt Exploration Fund, the society has offices in both London and Cairo. The Society’s Ricardo Caminos Memorial Library houses a collection of some 20,000 monographs, series, journals and maps, and its Lucy Gura Archive contains the results of over 130 years’ excavations.

Its mission is to explore ancient Egyptian sites and monuments, to create a lasting record of the remains, to generate enthusiasm for, and increase knowledge and understanding of, Egypt’s past, and to raise awareness of the importance of protecting its heritage.

Soutron’s library management solution will be implemented to transform accessibility of both the Society’s library and archive collections, across a number of online devices, ensuring the Society is able to provide first-rate research facilities for Egyptologists.

Soutron is delighted to supply this leading archaeological society with their library solution. “We chose Soutron for our library management system because they offered a flexible solution that we feel we can use for both our library and archive collections. Even better – it was very competitive on costs, which is vital for a charity,” says Hazel Gray, EES Office Manager and Librarian.

Carl Graves, Education and Public Engagement Manager and Archivist, adds, “Making our library and archive collections more widely available is one of our key goals, but is a large, long-term project. We look forward to working with Soutron to achieve that over the coming years.”

“The Egypt Exploration Society project illustrates the beauty of Soutron. We designed and built it to be extremely flexible, allowing organizations to have a database solution that is easy to use, making information accessible via the web with minimum effort.” says Graham Beastall, Soutron’s Managing Director. “We are excited about the prospect of helping the Society achieve their goals and making their wonderful collections more accessible.”
